Kaleidoscope Workshop from Industrial Waste

This workshop was organized in conjunction with the “Usagi Smash” exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo and the “SENSE of Wonder” exhibition at the University Art Museum, Tokyo University of the Arts. In collaboration with Nakadai, an industrial waste collection company, we gathered materials that would normally be discarded to rediscover their hidden beauty and inspire wonder.

Participants crafted kaleidoscopes from reclaimed industrial waste and experienced firsthand how the materials are beautifully regenerated by rotation (cycle) and reuse (re-cycle). This device, which viscerally embodies the vision of sustainable material circulation, was given to the children as a take-home souvenir.

産業廃棄物でつくる万華鏡ワークショップ

東京都現代美術館「うさぎ スマッシュ展」および東京藝術大学陳列館「SENSE of Wonder 展」に連動して企画されたワークショップです。産業廃棄物回収業者ナカダイの協力を得て、通常は捨てられる素材を集め、その未知の美しさと驚きを再発見することを目的としています。

参加者は廃材を用いて万華鏡を制作し、回転（cycle）させることで素材が美しく再生（re-cycle）される様子を体験します。持続可能な素材循環のビジョン（回転：cycle）と再生：re-cycle）を実感的に表現するこの装置は、子どもたちにお土産としてお持ち帰りいただきました。
