Syllabic Calligraphy
Chinese and Japanese share the same logographic writing system yet belong to unrelated language families. Although spoken dialogue between the two is impossible, written communication remains viable through shared characters.
In this work, I use the text of Laozi’s Tao Te Ching and treat the phonetic qualities of spoken Chinese as raw material to create “syllabic calligraphy.” By highlighting the gap between visual form and sound, the piece invites viewers to reconsider how written characters evoke both resonance and meaning.

音節の書
中国語と日本語は同じ漢字文化圏に属しながら、言語学的には系統的な関連性を持ちません。しかし音声による会話は成立しなくとも、筆談によって一定のコミュニケーションが可能です。
本作では『老子道徳経』のテキストを用い、中国語の音声的特性を素材として「音節の書」を試みます。視覚と言語のズレを通じて、書かれた文字が呼び起こす響きと意味の関係を再考させる作品です。
